Festival gameshow setup: screens, Wi‑Fi, and crowd flow

A festival tent is not a quiet pub. Hundreds of phones join in waves, sunlight hits the screen, and the next act is already loading in. The show only works if the join path is obvious and the Host layout is built for distance.

Put the QR where feet stop

Print a large join code at the entrance and on the stage lip. People should be able to join before they find a spot — not after they’ve already sat down and ignored the host.

Use the Festival display

ShowBuzzer’s Festival Host profile ups scale and padding so text reads from the back of a marquee. Test it in daylight the day before; contrast beats clever decoration every time.

Wi‑Fi that survives the surge

Ask production for a dedicated SSID or at least enough capacity for your connection plan. Festival tier covers up to 500 phones at once — the network has to keep up, or buzzers will feel sticky no matter how good the games are.

Keep Admin off the stage floor

Run Admin from a side desk or backstage laptop. The Host screen is the show; Admin is the control surface. Separating them stops volunteers from “just checking” mid-round.
